Where historical archaeology started as part of the study of the post-Columbian societies of the United States and Canada, it has now expanded to interface with the post-medieval archaeologies of Europe and the diverse post-imperial experiences of Africa, Latin America, and : $ Archaeology, or archeology (from Greek ἀρχαιολογία, archaiologia ἀρχαῖος, arkhaīos, "ancient"; and -λογία, -logiā, "-logy"), is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture and environmental data which they have left behind, which includes artefacts, architecture, biofacts and cultural landscapes (the archaeological record).

The book is of particular interest to students of the history of American archaeology. I don't know of anywhere else you can find the hundreds of photographs and line drawings of structures, artifacts, human remains, and distribution maps that are in "Archaeology of Eastern United States".
